AI-backed, crystal-cutting machine DISCO delivery breakdown record

Advanced by AI demand, DISCO, a major Japanese crystal cutting machine manufacturer, increased its shipment in the last quarter, setting a record high, and today's stock price rebounded sharply.

According to Yahoo Finance's quote, as of 11:35 am on the 7th, DISCO rose 2.37%, showing a far superiority to the decline of 0.49% in the Big Market (Taiwan Securities Index TOPIX).

DISCO released data after the 4th, pointing out that the non-consolidated (partial) shipments in the last quarter (first quarter of 2025, April-June 2025) were 93 billion yen, an increase of 8.5% compared with the same period last year, showing a fifth increase in the six quarters, with quarterly shipments exceeding the 90.8 billion yen in the third quarter of 2024 (October-December 2024), setting a record high.

DISCO pointed out that in terms of the shipping situation of precision machining devices, the demand for generative AI is centered on, and the level of water is maintained; in the part of precision machining tools that are consumables, the production growth is driven by the customer equipment crop rate.

In addition, last quarter, DISCO's non-consolidation revenue increased by 10.1% to 75.4 billion yen compared with the same period last year.

DISCO will include the sold products in the accounting of revenue only after the product has been completed. Therefore, revenue usually has a gap with the actual market demand trend, and the shipping volume and market trend are more dynamic.

DISCO is expected to announce its first quarter financial report for 2025 on July 17.

DISCO released financial report data on April 17, pointing out that the shipment amount available for the first quarter of 2025 (April-June 2025) reflects customer investment intentions is estimated to increase by 1% year-on-year to 102 billion yen, and the quarterly shipment amount will create a historical second-high record (just lower than 110.3 billion yen from October-December 2024). DISCO said that with generative AI-related needs as the center, shipments will be expected to remain at a high level, but we need to pay attention to how tax policies will change their product demand and customer investment intentions.
