Helle Kristoffersen, president of Total Energy Asia, said: "This project aims to promote the development of regional renewable energy infrastructure and advance the ASEAN Power Grid vision."

Imelda Tanoto, managing director of Golden Eagle Group, said that the joint investment agreement is in line with Indonesia's national transformation strategy. "Our goal is to unlock Indonesia's long-term economic value by promoting investment, developing Indonesia's solar value chain, and creating expertise in the field of renewable energy."

According to a joint statement released by Singapore-based Golden Eagle Group and Total Energy France on Wednesday (May 28), they will make the investment through Singa Renewables, a joint venture with half of the shares, which will be built in stages.

The statement said that the two sides had signed an agreement in Indonesia on Wednesday, with Indonesian President Prabowo and French President Macron witnessing the importance of the project and the support of the top leaders of the two governments.

Golden Eagle Group (RGE) and TotalEnergies have signed a joint investment agreement to develop, build and operate a solar power plant and battery energy storage system in Riau, Indonesia. After the completion of this power plant, it will provide Riau province with a large amount of green energy and export clean solar energy to Singapore.

The statement did not disclose the investment amount and specific details of the power plant, but pointed out that after completion, it will provide a large amount of green energy for the Green Industrial Park in Riau to meet domestic consumption needs and support Indonesia's efforts to promote economic growth and decarbonize key industries. In addition, it will export clean solar energy to Singapore, contributing to strengthening energy cooperation and renewable energy initiatives in the region.

On the economic side, the project is expected to help Indonesia build a renewable energy hub and support ASEAN's broader goals in cross-border clean energy cooperation and energy integration.
