British dog almost dies after swallowing mask

Masks are even a necessity for every household. What is unexpected is that public protection tools have become a life-threatening talisman for animals; a one-year-old cocker spaniel living in Liverpool, England, nearly died from accidentally swallowing an epidemic prevention mask!

Ralph is a young and adorable Cocker Spaniel (with a bent frame). One day his owner Julie Widman noticed something unusual about him. The dog is not as greedy as before. Not only does it not drink water, it also loses interest in its favorite snacks. A gluttonous dog that suddenly stopped eating or drinking was not a good sign. Julie guessed that there must be something wrong with the dog's body, and she immediately sought help from the local PDSA community remotely. After the veterinarian listened to Ralph's symptoms, he recommended that the owner take the dog to an animal hospital for treatment immediately.

After the veterinarian opened the dog's belly, he took out a mask from the intestines. Everyone present found it very difficult. There are risks in any similar operation, and complications may occur after intestinal surgery. Fortunately, Ralph's operation went smoothly and was successful. Even though Ralph refused to rest after the operation, his body recovered after two weeks.

The owner Julie pointed out that Ralph likes to use his family’s socks and underwear as toys, so everyone is used to keeping similar items away to prevent dogs from easily getting them; it is really hard for them to imagine that the dog actually swallowed the entire mask. The dog stole the mask from her daughter's handbag at night.

In order to prevent the epidemic, many people have accumulated masks at home, and people often discard masks randomly outside. Since dogs are very curious and greedy animals, owner Julie specifically told them to pay more attention to avoid similar accidents from happening again.
