On March 3, some netizens posted that in the early morning of February 15, two men climbed through the window and entered the storage room of Ms. Yang’s home in Huanghe Xinju, Binzhou City. They beat Ms. Yang’s corgi to death with a wine bottle and took it away in a car. Ms. Yang learned from police staff that the dog had been eaten. Currently, the issue of compensation for Ms. Yang’s pet dog is still under negotiation.

On March 4, Ms. Yang told the Zhengguan News reporter that at about 7 pm on February 15, Ms. Yang was going to walk her dog, so she went to the storage room on the first floor of her home to take her pet dog "Dafu". However, she found that the house was extremely messy, so she called the police. Ms. Yang said that on the day of the incident, the police took the two suspects to the police station and recorded statements. The suspects admitted to beating the dog to death and eating it.
"The dog's body was still there after it died. I just wanted the dog skin." Ms. Yang said, "But when we wanted the dog skin, the two dog thieves had different claims. One said they burned the dog skin, and the other said they plucked the hair and ate it with the skin."
Surveillance video showed that a person threw an object suspected of being a dog into the car.
Ms. Yang said that one of the two people who stole the dog was her neighbor. "My storage room is next to his garage, and he sometimes invites a group of people to play poker in the garage."
"My dog used to be fed upstairs, but because I was moving recently and the house there was being renovated, I put it in the storage room. At that time, I told the neighbor that if the puppy made any noise, we would take it away, and the neighbor agreed very well." Ms. Yang said.
"Later, the police asked us to go to the police station. After we went there, we were told that we would be compensated according to the price of 10 yuan per kilogram of raw dog meat on the market set by the Price Bureau. We did not agree. A few days later, the police asked us to provide a screenshot of the transfer for buying the dog."
Ms. Yang said that her dog was purchased for 2,000 yuan on September 10, 2020, but she did not ask for compensation. She only asked the relevant departments to deal with the dog thieves strictly.
Fu Jian, a lawyer at Henan Yulong Law Firm, believes that theft of a “pet dog” is suspected of being illegal. Article 264 of the Criminal Law stipulates that the crime of theft refers to theft of public or private property, if the amount is relatively large, or if the person commits multiple thefts, burglaries, thefts with weapons, or pickpocketing, he shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, or surveillance, and shall also or solely be fined.
According to the provisions of the law, anyone who illegally enters a residence that is relatively isolated from the outside world for other people's family life and steals it shall be deemed as "housebreaking theft". The act of "burglary" in the crime of theft is not punished based on the amount of theft proceeds. In this case, the act of entering Ms. Yang's home in the early morning to steal the pet dog is considered "burglary" and has been suspected of constituting a criminal offence.
In addition, if it is not a burglary, whether the theft constitutes a criminal offense must also determine the value of the theft. If the value exceeds the criminal amount required for the crime of theft, you will be held criminally liable. If the standards for filing a criminal case are not met, the perpetrator will be fined and detained in accordance with the "Public Security Management Punishment Law".
If you break into a house and steal the meat of someone else’s dog, you can still be compensated by the pound? This is treating other people’s homes as a market! ? It’s really unbelievable. Is this encouraging people to commit crimes in disguise? ? ? !
