Now many families like to keep some pets at home. Pet cats are the choice of many people. So what is the matter with your cat being limp and unable to stand up if you don’t eat? What causes it?
1. Poisoned
If a cat accidentally eats something that causes it to poison, such as chocolate, grapes, insecticides, dead mice that have been killed by medicine, they will suffer from appetite loss, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, fainting, etc., which can eventually lead to shock death. If the cat is found to have signs of poisoning, it is recommended that the owner consult a pet doctor in time, first perform emergency vomiting treatment on the cat, and then immediately send it to the pet hospital for gastric lavage, enema, infusion, etc. At the same time, in order to avoid cat poisoning, it is recommended to collect related toxic items.
2. Hypoglycemia
If a cat lacks nutritional intake or has a low body temperature for a long time, it is easy to cause hypoglycemia, especially in kittens. The clinical symptoms are mainly manifested as not eating, poor spirits, and paralysis of the limbs. When opening the cat's mouth, you will find that the oral mucosa is pale. After pressing, the blood recovery speed will be slow, and the conjunctiva of the eye will be pale. In this case, the owner can give the cat some high sugar to relieve the symptoms of hypoglycemia, and then take the cat to the pet hospital for blood biochemical examination to confirm the diagnosis and actively treat the primary disease.
3. Dehydration
When a cat is particularly dehydrated, it may have symptoms of not eating, limps, and being unable to stand up. Generally, the causes of cat dehydration include severe diarrhea, vomiting, long-term failure to drink water, hot weather, etc. At the same time, cat dehydration will also cause symptoms such as decreased skin elasticity, looseness, and sunken eyes. Since long-term dehydration is harmful to cats, it is recommended that the owner take the cat to the pet hospital for examination in time to find the cause of the cat's dehydration. If it is dehydration caused by vomiting and diarrhea, it is best to replenish water in time through infusion.
