In order to cooperate with the prevention and control of the epidemic, many citizens with pets are quarantined at home. For dog owners, the biggest headache is their dog’s defecation problem. How do dogs defecate at home? Here are some experiences from pet lovers.
1. Prepare peeing pads and dog toilets
You can enclose a larger space (or balcony) with a fence, put the dog toilet, and cover other places with peeing pads. Changing pads are the key to success.
2. Understand the time pattern of puppies going to the toilet
Usually puppies start to defecate 15-30 minutes after eating or drinking, or you can stare and observe if you have time. If it keeps sniffing the floor while walking, it is looking for a place to go to the toilet. At this time, we need to take it to the area we have prepared.

3. Guidance and rewards
When we find out when the dog wants to go to the toilet, we can guide it to the dog toilet, but this requires patience. It will definitely not obediently urinate when you take it into the toilet at the beginning. If you want to escape, as long as it does not go, we will keep repeating it many times to let it in. If you can't hold it in the toilet, you will pee in it (the dog's toilet will go more smoothly the second time if there is a pee pad in the toilet with a smell). At this time, you need to reward it, praise it, and touch it to let it know that defecation in the toilet will be rewarded. Then, keep training in the next week, and the dog will be able to establish this good habit.
If you don’t have the time and energy to watch and guide, then put it in the arranged defecation area after eating. As long as it defecates on the pee pad, let it come out and reward it. Then slowly reduce the number of pee pads. Remember to reward it every time it defecates in the correct position. The number of peeing pads gradually decreases, and success is achieved when only one is left. Finally, the peeing pad can be placed in the dog toilet, or you can directly use the peeing pad for defecation.
